some lovely tidbits for yoooou…

Hurrah, my knit-tastic studio mate Lauren O’Farrell (aka Deadly Knitshade) ROCKED the BBC Breakfast Show on Saturday morning. She’s wearing the scarf she made of all the colours of the Tube lines for her Stitch London book, and she even fit into the scarf’s pocket a little knitted Queen, two corgis and Cooey the Pigeon. Hurrah! You can watch it on YouTube here:

And a big thanks to Birmingham-based Vern and Lettuce fan Robert St.Valentine for creating a page for The Pickle online magazine! I’ll upload that soon (along with Tammy Taylor’s recent pages), but you can have a sneak preview here at Thunderpig, about a city pig with delusions if superheroism.

And this is just plain cute! Thanks to fab comics team Frank & Becky at Tiny Kitten Teeth for the link to this old clip from Tales of the Riverbank, also known as Hammy the Hamster. It reminds me a little bit of a book I used to love as a kid, called The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. Or perhaps The Borrowers Afloat by Mary Norton.

Edit: Philip Reeve just sent the link for a longer clip from the same show in the ’70s, narrated by Johnny Morris. A gerbil with an electric saw! My other studio mate, Gary Northfield, gave good commentary, finishing with, ‘So sad, they’ll probably all be dead by now.’ Philip attributed it to the power tools.
