I had an amazing weekend seeing some of my best out-of-town friend, from Tokyo and Brussels, and then came back to a very hard day at work with lots of things going wrong, so I drew a picture of Benjamin Franklin to cheer myself up.
My friend Laura and I saw this portrait of him on some French china when we cottoned on to a hilariously funny tour by a guide at The Wallace Collection. Apparently the French thought revolutionary Ben was the dude to know, and they had a great time fêting him when he was in town because it pissed off the English so badly.
I’d been meaning for ages to stop by The Cartoon Museum and I was chuffed to bits to find episode 6 of Vern and Lettuce (the penciled version and the final digital colour print) hanging next to work by one of my heroes, Posy Simmonds. (Although I had to remind myself that one of the stated reasons the museum likes my work is that I am ‘young, female and not dead’.)
Here’s The Original of Laura (not the book), and Laura and me having a cosy drink with Stuart in an old pub called The Lamb.
